A Summer With Hush Puppies | July
Haute with Hush Puppies is my slogan this summer.
Cannot believe that we are starting at the end of July. I feel like summer always flies by so trying to soak up each day that I can. Excited to be continuing the Hush Puppies series this month. They have been around since 1958! Their focus is on creating products that are timeless, good quality, and comfortable...you had me at timeless.
Hush Puppies is now a global name that sells millions of shoes each year. They are one brand of Wolverine Worldwide which is based in Rockford, MI. Yas, Michigan yaaaaas (think Oprah voice...which fun fact: Oprah loves Hush Puppies)!
July's pair is drumrolllllll...the Aiden Clever shoes! I got them in Camel Suede but there are so many cute colors to choose from (the Coral!). They hold the structure and overall aesthetic of a oxford but are insanely comfortable thanks to their plushy lining. I like that they can be dressed up or down so easily for different settings. See how I styled them below...
PERFECTLY PREPSTER
When people ask what are some style staples that everyone should have in their closet I always say a couple of really great blazers. One of my favorite aspects of them is that they can be the base that you build the rest of your outfit around. While they will always embody the best classic/preppy qualities, they can also be reinvented to take you out of that zone if that isn't what you are going for. I love tailored blazers worn with a simple tank, skinnys of some kind, and heels. In this case, the blazer was paired with linen shorts and a longer striped tank. I love outfits like this for cooler summer days whether you're headed to lunch with a friend or a day of errands.
WHITE BUTTON-UP: MEET BANDANA
I found some great little bandanas at Horrocks here in Grand Rapids. Ever since, I have been looking for different ways to incorporate them into my outfits. I feel like they add the cutest little touch to any outfit. I'm not super into scarves in the summer (#HOT) so think this is a great substitute. I thought a classic, white button-up was a great starting point for both the Hush Puppies and accessories. I paired them with some of my favorite khaki shorts. Effortless, simple sophistiaction.
LITTLE WHITE DRESS
I loved this understated linen dress. Items like this help make summer fashion so effortless. When I am putting on a shirt/sweater/coat/scarf I will miss being able to throw on a dress and walk out the door. The embroidery around neckline adds some subtle life (love the color combo of the stitching). My first instinct with a dress like this would be pairing them with sandals so I like that these shoes encouraged me to change things up. I felt the shoes dressed up the outfit a bit while allowing me to still stay on the casual side.
If you end up purchasing these, send me pictures of how you end up styling them. You will LOVE the padding in the bottom of them...oh my plushy-ness. Also, thanks for dealing with the crazy wound on my knee in these pics. That's what happens when you aren't paying attention and you fall down...and your purse goes flying...in a parking lot...at Home Depot. YEA.
Thanks to Kristin Jones for the photos...you're a gem.
Sincerely,
Ashley
