His and Her Winter Guide
Gearing up for winter wonderland?
Not sure where you live but here in Michigan it's winter. Like, in your face, snowy, freezing winter. If you are basking in tropical or west coast goodness please send sunshine and some pictures, stat.
I have to admit that this whole 'living in a snow globe' deal isn't all bad. No cold or snow would eliminate some of the coziest aspects of a winter wardrobe; cue chunky sweaters, beanies with poms, and comfy boots (+ a cup of hot chocolate, of course). Below are some of my favorite picks to help stay warm and stylish as you head out into your own winter wonderland!
FOR HIM
Sperry Decoy Wool Duck Boot-Unfortunately, winter boots aren't always the most stylish item but needed for dealing with snow and ice. Guys especially seem to be forced to choose between having cold feet or clunking around in oversized, heavy footwear. Enter the Sperry Duck Boot. Fully waterproof and great insulation while still looking polished with the wool/leather combo. I really liked this grey color with the deep brown leather but they also come in a lighter tan.
Patagonia Thunder Cloud Down Parka-Love the functionality and style of this piece. It's insulated with down aka WARM Y'ALL. Would be a great companion for winter hiking, snowboarding, or winning dude of the year and accompanying the love in your life on errands. I love all of Patagonia's products in this Tapenade color, but the coat also comes in black (always a good idea) and a great utility green. I'm a huge advocate for the investment in a higher quality winter coat. Doug and I both have Patagonia jackets that have proven durable for years vs. having to buy a new one each winter.
North Face Etip Glove-Solid basic for anyone's winter arsenal. These little guys allow you to ditch the bulky glove or mitten for driving, running, or enjoying an outdoor event. With the etip you're able to utilize your smartphone without having to do that "one finger in the mouth to get your glove off" bit.
Ralph Lauren Signature Cuffed Beanie-I must be having a grey moment but this Ralph Lauren beanie comes in a lot of other colors to match your winter jackets. Love when guys rock a good beanie.
Johnston & Murphy Quilted Field Jacket-I'm a sucker for a quilted jacket. I think the lines and overall pattern bring a sophisticated sense of style to any outfit for men and women. This navy field jacket from Johnston & Murphy is particularly dapper.
FOR HER
Hunter Boots-Hunters are a ride or die product for me. I find myself in them year round. Throw a pair of their cable stitch boot socks in and you are good to go for even the coldest winter days. I have found these especially helpful for that awkward stage of non-snow, mostly slush hot mess. With the variety of styles, heights, and colors...you can't go wrong #obsessed
North Face Far Northern Parka-HOW CUTE IS THIS COAT?! North Face's longer coats are essential on those crazy cold days (your booty and legs will thank you later). I loved the look of this military green with the faux-fur hood but it comes in some other lovely colors (check out the yummy navy one).
Love Your Melon Pom Beanie-The story behind Love Your Melon is simple and so beautiful. It was founded by two guys in an entrepreneurship class who had a heart for children battling cancer. Not only did they provide children with a hat to wear during their cancer treatments, but they have now turned their focus and platform to cancer research. Check out their adorable pom topped beanies but also their Mission page to read more about their phenomenal work in the name of some of our smallest fighters.
H&M Short Coat-Black is my go-to color especially in winter. This coat=happiness. It transitions seamlessly from day to evening which is something I look for in my clothing. I use it a lot for the milder days of winter when the puffy first round draft pick jacket isn't necessary. At $50, it's the perfect staple to add to your fall/winter coat options.
Target Textured Mittens-These adorable mittens aren't sold in stores so I was happy that I stumbled on them via Target's website. A pair of cute, comfortable mittens is a winter must in my book.
I hope these products give you some fun ideas for your wintery wardrobe. Would love to hear about the items that you use to stay warm and fashion forward in this crazy weather. Stay warm friends!
Sincerely,
Ashley
