"Modern style with a consicence"
A couple weeks ago, I had the privilege of grabbing coffee with Becky who is the owner of Joon + Co. It was great to connect and hear more about her story. We bonded over shared experiences (like moving to West Michigan after living in Detroit and Chicago respectively and feeling like crazy people when we drive because people label us as 'aggressive' for driving in ways we think are normal).
She has smart, quick humor...she breaks down life in the most delightful, frank way and happily divulges her thoughts. An engineer/developer by trade, she left the crazy IT world behind to pursue her love of fashion. Even though we had just met, I felt proud as she shared stories of standing her ground when she came face to face with issues of gender equality and race in her former career #ladyboss. It was an honor to hear about how this online shop is a front-row seat to her dreams...how she is importantly bridging a gap while balancing life as a working wife and mom.
Joon + Co. is focused on curating a collection of ethically manufactured clothing. All of the pieces that she carries represent research that she has done to ensure that it maintains all of the ethical standards established. A large focus for her is the social responsibility of the suppliers that are utilized.
She and I discussed how ethical clothing often has a specific aesthetic. Unfortunately, said aesthetic can be really bland and considered unfashionable. Becky has done an incredible job of creating a collection that checks all the boxes well. Socially responsible, ethically sourced, but on-trend and beautiful.

I fell in love with her Boiled Wool Trench. It's warm (apparently it's winter already so this came in handy) but a lighter-weight fabric. It's nice to have something on a chilly day that doesn't feel as bulky as some of my other winter coats.
Especially with jackets, I like when I can envision the utility of it by answering a few questions. Is this a good neutral for various outfits? Is it possible to dress it up and down? Will this be something I can carry over more than one season? This trench=YES, EASILY, and 100%. This gal is in love.
Check out her site and do a little shopping. The pieces are great quality and your purchase helps contribute to sustainable fashion.
Better yet, if you want to get some face time with the product, she is doing a pop-up today from 10 am-2 pm at West Elm Grand Rapids. You will be able to check out the holiday collection including accessories, jewelry, and bags...a perfect way to get some of your Christmas list crossed off.
