Summer 2020 Wins the Race
Summer, quit being so fast.
“Where is this summer going? It’s just flying.” I feel like this is the official summer mantra. Michigan summers are truly magical. We often joke that it’s why we put up with the brutal winters. I often think of this when we are taking walks at 9 pm and it’s still light out. It’s like I’m trying to capture the warmth, smells, light to use on cold winter days that feel endless.
This spirit definitely made it into these photos. Summer makes me feel free.
This summer in particular has felt like a whirlwind blur. I can’t believe that we are looking at July. JULY. I have been making a mental list of the items that I want to make sure we do before fall comes. A lot of these can thankfully be done even once we hit the fall months, but it just isn’t quite the same. Soaking in all of the summer moments while I can. What’s on your rest-of-this-crazy-summer-to-do list?
Cocktails while wandering around downtown (yep, GR is Vegas now)
One more jetski ride
A hike in the woods with Doug and Pais
Sunset at the beach
Ice Cream in the car from one of our local ice cream spots
Farmer’s Market for summer produce
Get fresh flowers each week
Visit a lighthouse
Weekend trip to Traverse City
I got a lot of questions about this mural when I posted it on my Instagram. It’s amazing isn’t it? For local friends, it’s behind Rise on Fulton Street in GR. If I’m only going for photos vs. one of their yummy treats or coffee, I try to go after hours so I’m not interrupting customers or their staff. Add snapping photos there to your summer list and make sure to tag them/Chelsea in your photos!
