Post COVID Mindset, Lansing, and Romping Through the Greenhouse

Where do you need to insert a moment of pause into your life?

Things have been busy lately. I think that’s the overstatement of the century for most of us. Of course they have been busy, we are all regaining traction again when it comes to life, work, and ya know, leaving the house. I think that part of it is that many of us aren’t used to the same pace. Aside from healthcare and other essential workers, many of us put life on hold since March of last year. Now that things are starting to resume and open up, it’s brought on a new (and often tiring) pace.

All that to say, I was in need of a break. So was my pal Abby, so we made a plan to take a half a day and head to Lansing. Nothing complicated or fancy, just a trip to a market that we both love there and lunch in a different place. Turns out that a moment of pause and change of scenery was just what the doctor ordered. Makes sense, where can you go wrong wandering a greenhouse that’s full of brightly colored flowers?

I think that one of the most valuable lessons that many of us learned over the course of the last year is that we need to slow down. In that slowing down, we’re able to evaluate what is really important to us and what aspects can be left to the side.

I think that’s one of the most consistent things that I hear from folks when asking how they’re doing. So many speak to this now familiar feeling of excitement about resuming activities, gatherings, work, but doing it with a new mindset that’s a bit more family/person/health first. I’m hoping that this makes us all more well rounded people. I think that all of this has given us permission to say no to things and pursue what really speaks to our purpose. To me? That’s a pretty good place to be.

I hope as life continues to return that you remember to take the breaks that you need. Stop and go for a walk, meet up with a friend for coffee, or hop in the car for a quick trip to Lansing with a side of greenhouse flowers.

Sincerely,
Ashley
